James is originally from Anglesey in Wales and Naomi from Malvern in Worcestershire. They met when they both worked at the same Publishing House in London. Naomi and James now live in Cornwall with their two boys and their dog.
Their picture books have been translated into 19 languages, selected for the Scottish BookTrust BookBug programmes and shortlisted for multiple awards including the Klaus Flugge award.
Naomi Jones
Naomi worked in Rights in children’s publishing for eight years. Since then Naomi has worked as a freelance editor, mentor and fulfilled her childhood dream of having her books and poems published. Her poems have been published in The Toy Press, Dirigible Balloon, Spelt Magazine and Mum Poem Press amongst others.
She is passionate about the power of reading and stories and has worked with the BBC to promote their 500 word story competition as well as being a Patron of Reading for a local primary school. Naomi was a longlisting judge for The Jericho Prize in 2022 and a mentor for the runners up of the same competition in 2023. When she’s not writing, Naomi loves to walk her dog, swim in the sea, play netball and bake cakes.
James Jones
James is an award-winning art director, designer and illustrator who freelances for publishers all over the world. He has worked at Orion, Penguin Random House, and as Art Director at both Oneworld and Head of Zeus. His work has been recognised by AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts), Type Directors Club, Design Observer, the ABCD (The Academy of British Cover Design) and World Illustration Awards amongst others.
When James isn’t illustrating or designing, he loves practicing kung fu, cold water swimming and also coaches a local children’s football team.
